Want
to get up close and personal with the band? Well I have tried
to put a little information about all of them here, please be
aware I don't make it my mission to know what pants they are
wearing today or what toothpaste they use (quite frankly I am
not that interested!) so its just the basics here, and even
then that might not be much!
Charlie
Simpson (also known as Simo and Chaz to name a few!) and
formerly from the pop band Busted (like you didn't already
know that!), he split from them in January 2005 to concentrate
more on Fightstar. He lives in London but is originally
from Ipswich which is in Suffolk, he went to public school
but left to concentrate on his music career. He loves
Nirvana and The Deftones and considers Kurt Cobain his
idol even signing the seat outside the place where Kurt
died!
He met the other guy s through Camilla (his X-Girlfriend)
when Alex's sister moved in with her as a flatmate,
and Fightstar was born. He has two other brothers that
are in a band, Brigade and Prego and both have supported
them at gigs.
Alex Westaway is from Northampton, he has played in a
few bands previous to Fightstar. After he moved back to
London to concentrate on his music career he met Charlie
at a party! Al has a lovely Labrador dog too! His dad
is Derek Westaway, the managing director of Westaway Motors,
a family business with garages in Naseby, Maidwell, Moulton
Park and Spratton.
Alex also designed the artwork for the EP, and continues
to dabble at Artwork to date, hopefully his latest work
will be on the single A City On Fire!
Dan
Haigh went to school with Alex, he is originally from
Grimsby which is in North Yorkshire. He has been in a
few other bands prior to Fightstar which where Blind Oppression,
Infliction and 4 Day Week, after this he moved onto designing
video games and is responsible for Quake 2 'Oblivion'
and Quake 3 'Revolution'.
He was called upon by Alex to join Fightstar after Alex
teamed up with Charlie and the rest is history! Dan also
did the Video for Palahnuik's Laughter! and is heavily
into skateboarding!
Omar
Abidi was born and raised in London, I have read that
he is half Portugese, and half Tunisian (although this
isn't confirmed and until I do actually remember to ask
him when I see him please do not take this as true!).
He is an old friend of Alex's and been a drummer for many
years. He joined the guys after Alex called upon him and
Dan after meeting Charlie. Omar continues to dazzle us
with his drumming skills and his name is shouted out many
times when they play live!
